Exhibitions

Since becoming an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 1996, I have exhibited regularly in their Annual Spring and Autumn Exhibitions. I was elected a member of the Small Paintings Group in 2019, and exhibit frequently with them at various galleries in London and throughout Britain.

I’m currently exhibiting four new pieces of work in the Royal Watercolour Society Spring Exhibition from 29 March – 28 April. This year's theme is 'Transparency'. Find out more via Bankside Gallery or explore more of my recent work.

Six of my small watercolour paintings of gardens will also be showing at an exhibition with The Small Paintings Group at Mandell’s Gallery in Norwich from 20 April – 18 May.

Earlier this year, four of my paintings featured in The Mini Picture Show. This included contemporary watercolours and original prints from the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.

reflections on recent work

In 2019 Bankside Gallery invited me to take part in an exhibition of work by members of the Royal Water Colour Society and Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, celebrating a year in the life of the Chelsea Physic Garden.

Then the Covid pandemic happened.

As soon as the Physic Garden were able to open again, limited numbers of visitors were allowed in, which was such a treat for us artists. There was a great deal of work for the gardeners to do, as the garden had been maintained by a skeleton staff during the pandemic and was a little wild by then.

I loved the wildness and it became my place of solace. I spent many happy hours painting quietly away there.

“A Year in the life of the Chelsea Physic Garden” took place at Bankside Gallery in June 2021.

The Chelsea Physic Garden was celebrating 350 years of its existence in 2023, so another exhibition was conceived, and some of the same artists were invited to take part in.

I found many changes had taken place with previously painted trees pruned and walkways opened. There was much fresh material to paint.

“350 years of the Chelsea Physic Garden” took place in June 2023 and The Chelsea Physic Garden acquired my painting of The Rambler for their collection. Explore more of my recent work.

“Being close to nature, watching plants grow and having a project to work on, was important to me during the pandemic.”
