This summer I am exhibiting two of my small watercolour paintings of Goodnestone Park Gardens at Linden Hall Studio from 6 July – 17 August. The studio is an independent, family run, contemporary art gallery in Deal, East Kent.

Goodnestone Park Gardens, a short distance from Deal, are well known for being visited by Jane Austen whose brother, Edward, and other family lived in the parish. From her surviving letters we catch glimpses of life in Goodnestone between 1796 and 1817.

Earlier this year I exhibited at The Royal Watercolour Society’s 2024 annual Spring exhibition. This year's theme was 'Transparency'.

Watercolour has been a medium that has always been treasured for its transparency. It is a medium that is particularly well suited for painting botanical specimens. It allows artists to obtain perfect colour matching by allowing the white or cream of the paper to glow through transparent layers of watercolour paint. Find out more via Bankside Gallery.
